-
Chromium(VI)- free; based on chromium trivalaent
-
For direct use in the quench tank (cooling bath)
-
Superb white rust protection
Passivation for Quench Tank Chromefree HDG ADL-32 is free of chromium(VI). It is a water-based trivalent chrome passivation to be applied op freshly galvanized steel surfaces. It offers “white rust” corrosion protection properties that exceed current alternative chromefree passivations.
Passivation ADL32 – for direct use Quench Tank
Developed to meet the needs of the hot-dip-galvanizing (HDG) industry. Ensuring excellent white rust protection and easy bath control.
Passivation ADL-32 product characteristics:
- Can be used directly in the quench tank, no cooling bath needed
- At a higher concentration also suitable for passivation in a cooling bath
- Passivation layer on fresh galvanized steel
- Chrome(III) chemical technology
- Protection against white rust
- Provides bare corrosion resistance during storage and transport
- Outperforms other Chrome (VI) free products
- Free of substances of very high concern
Test Results
Passivation ADL-32 has been tested according to the highest quality standards. Below pictures show test results before and after NSS with Passivation ADl-32.

| Appearance | yellow, clear layer | clear layer |
| Waste water treatment | Multiple steps, chrome reduction required | Regular waste water treatment |
| Easy to strip passivation of substrate when needed? | NO | YES |
| Pricing | € | €€ slightly more expensive |
Exceeding the market standard
HDG passivations have a huge range of requirements on a complex combination of zinc based alloys. This drives the need for close working relationships, consultation, testing and pilot line experimentation. With its passivation portfilio AD shows that replacing chromium-6 while maintaining the highest quality is possible.

Passivation HDG
Passivation products of AD are sustainable (free of chrome-6), economic and effective in use. If needed AD Chemicals can tailor the passivation requirements to the specific substrate and application process of a customer.
Passivation ADL-3P
Passivation ADL-3P is free of chromium(VI). It is a water-based trivalent chrome passivation to be applied op freshly galvanized steel surfaces.
Spray Passivation
Traditional passivation methods require a dedicated immersion bath in the quenching or cooling stage. This spray technology provides a solution for galvanizers looking to upgrade their corrosion protection capabilities without major process modifications or investments.
