Spot repair in rail vehicle coating should be more than visual cleaning.
Mechanical cleaning or solvent wiping may remove visible contamination, but they do not always create the most reliable foundation for repainting.

Roland van Meer will present a local surface preparation concept in which mild cleaning is followed by a conversion-based treatment step. This supports a more controlled substrate condition on steel, galvanised steel and aluminium, with the aim of improving paint adhesion and corrosion protection in repaired areas.

For rail maintenance, this shift from cleaning only to surface upgrading is highly relevant: especially where durable recoating, edge protection and repair consistency are critical, without the need for a full pretreatment line.
