Strip B1 – High performance cold paint stripper based on dichloromethane

Powerful stripping solution for a wide range of coatings on aluminium

Strip B1 is a high quality paint stripper developed for cold removal of various coatings from aluminium. The product is based on methylene chloride (dichloromethane) and contains alkaline activators that enable effective coating breakdown without damaging the aluminium substrate.

An integrated wax layer forms on the bath surface and reduces methylene chloride evaporation, supporting a stable process and longer bath life. Due to its methylene chloride content, Strip B1 must be used in a closed system, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Applications

Application and Process Parameters

Application method	Immersion bath
Strip system	Bath make up: Strip B1 is used neat (undiluted). The liquid level can be maintained with Strip B1. If activity decreases, the bath can be boosted with Strip 33 S.
Operating temperature	15 to 40 °C
Treatment time	5 to 60 minutes* depending on paint type
Tips	Parts to be stripped should be immersed in Strip B1 until the coating has released. Then rinse the parts with water and, if possible, brush or spray. In some cases high pressure may be required to remove the coating. Strip B1 must be kept free of water at all times.

EC Statement

EC/455/2009 Since 6 December 2011, new measures have been in force regarding the use of dichloromethane based paint strippers. In summary, professional users may continue to use dichloromethane provided they comply with the applicable conditions. Users must be aware that the product contains dichloromethane and that a mechanical exhaust ventilation system must be used to control dichloromethane vapours. Please note that, as of December 2011, dichloromethane based paint stripping gels may no longer be manufactured. All safety measures and the use of protective equipment must be followed as described in the MSDS (Safety Data Sheet). The MSDS is available on request.
