FASTSEAL a QUALANOD (QND-005) certified process

Seal at lower temperature and save energy
Sealing is one of the most important steps in the anodising process for aluminium surfaces. The sealing process greatly improves wear and corrosion resistance; chemical resistance and colour stability by closing the pores of the anodic oxide layer through immersion in almost boiling deionised water. Fastseal is the perfect solution.
FASTSEAL is a QUALANOD-approved very stable and nickle-free mid temperature seal-additive for the sealing process.
Save energy with FASTSEAL
FASTSEAL allows you to lower the sealing temperature to as low as 88°C (190°F). This saves up to 32% of heating energy without compromising the sealed quality of the anodised surface. And of course less energy usage means less CO2-emission.
List of practical tips and know how
Rinse water
Rinse water: is one of the most important steps before the sealing procedure. The pH of the last rinse bath (DI water rinse) has to be between 4,5 and 5,5. The greatest pollution for a sealing bath are acids from the anodising procedure. By keeping the last bath at a pH between 4,5 and 5,5 the acid compounds by towing will be neutralised better and there will be less acids coming into the sealing.
Temperature
The FASTSEAL can be used as a normal heat sealing which means that the temperature of the sealing bath will be around 96oC. The FASTSEAL as mild temperature sealing can be used at lower temperature, the temperature of 88°C is the limit temperature, mostly we advise the customer to use the product at 90/91°C. The reason is that sometimes a sealing bath can have a reduction of temperature during the working time. By using the sealing at 90/91oC it can handle temperature reductions. And even more important, it saves a lot of energy.
Conductivity
By using the FASTSEAL as a normal heat sealing (96°C) the maximum limit of conductivity is 1500µS Pollutions like acid’s or Stannous sulphate have a negative influence on the sealing capacity. Conductivities > 1500 µS effects the weight loss and can give some powdery effects on the anodised Aluminium profiles By using the product as a mild temperature sealing the maximum limit of conductivity is 1200 µS . Lower temperature sealing is more sensitive for pollutions.
Concentration Fastseal: Clear and coloured anodising
- Clear anodised Aluminium can be sealed with the FASTSEAL at a concentration of 2 ml/l
- Coloured anodised Aluminium can be sealed with the FASTSEAL by increasing the concentration till 3 ml/l
The FASTSEAL is an very effective product which can handle perfectly coloured Anodised Aluminium, some special components in the FASTSEAL protects the coloured Aluminium profiles.
Determination of the concentration
We highly recommend to determinate the concentration FASTSEAL by using a spectrophotometer. This method provides certainty, it’s especially developed by AD Chemicals in use for sealing products.
Pre-treatment
Durability and extended end-use life are demands that consumers take for granted and of which they expect continuous improvement year on year. Paint adhesion and corrosion resistance are critical factors in keeping end-use applications in a condition that is expected to remain in place for their usable life time.
Aluminium passivation
Aluminium passivation creates a clear, thin protective layer that offers excellent corrosion resistance — even without additional coating (bare corrosion protection). This process also enhances paint adhesion and improves the durability of the surface.
Anodizing
AD Chemicals has expert knowledge and offers a wide variety of chemicals and additives for the anodizing process.
