PrimeCoat® MM13x series are free of hexavalent chrome, water-based pretreatments for sheet metal, purposely developed to improve paint adhesion and bonding properties of the metal surface.
Aluminum, cold rolled steel and zinc alloy-coated steel pretreated with PrimeCoat® MM 13x products provide excellent durable bonding of coil-coating paints and adhesive bonding properties.
The bonding properties of PrimeCoat® MM13x products were tested in combination with several monolayer organic coatings after exposure in wet conditions like humidity test and immersion in boiling water.
When using an appropriate primer and topcoat the metal substrate pretreated with PrimeCoat® MM13x products will give comparable corrosion resistance with conventional no-rinse chromate pretreatments.
PrimeCoat MM13x products can be applied on:
- Zinc-coated steel
- Mg-Al-Zn coated steel
- Cold rolled steel
- Aluminium
PrimeCoat® MM13x-series benefits
- Multi-metal application
- Chromium(III) technology
- Improved paint adhesion and corrosion resistance properties
- Water-based chemistry
- REACH and ROHS compliant
- Suitable for a wide range of zinc alloys
Modular system
PrimeCoat® products are modular. This means that each product can be adapted to specific customer needs. based on a modular system. By changing the product concentration or adding specialty additives product properties can be enhanced. At a higher concentration PrimeCoat MM13x products could potentially replace a primer. Pretreatments
Durability and extended end-use life are demands that consumers take for granted and of which they expect continuous improvement year on year. Paint adhesion and corrosion resistance are critical factors in keeping end-use applications in a condition that is expected to remain in place for their usable life time.
Passivation
‘White rust’ the enemy of zinc coated steel strips, is in itself a form of corrosion that occurs during storage and is unacceptable for critical applications in, white goods, construction and other industries.
Thin Organic Coatings
Thin Organic Coatings (TOC’s) are applied in a continuous process to hot dip galvanized steel strip and other metal substrates, and can offer a wide range of benefits from anti-fingerprinting to improving, forming and enabling enhanced corrosion protection.
Cleaners and specialty additives
Oils and greases used during processing as well as other forms of surface contamination must be removed. This can be achieved using either acid or alkaline based cleaners depending on the nature of the contamination and the type of metal substrate.
Lubricant boosters
Booster lubricants reduce the wear and tool pollution during pressing of metal sheets.
